CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for October 10, 2022

The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for October 10, 2022. This includes Players of the Week in Cross Country, Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.

 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, October 3 through Sunday, October 9. A total of 42 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.

 

Cross Country

Men’s Runner of the Week

Nicholas Palladino | So. | Cairn University | Langhorne, Pa./Homeschool

 

Palladino led the Highlanders for the first time this season, crossing in 9th place out of the 34-runner field with an 8K personal best time of 31:22 at the Highlander Invitational.

 

Women’s Runner of the Week

AyliGrace Munro | Fr. | Cairn University | Bar Harbor, Me./Mount Desert Island

 

Munro collected her first individual collegiate victory, topping the field of 19 runners with a 6K time of 25:20 at the Highlander Invitational.

 

 

Field Hockey

Offensive Player of the Week

Maria Belen Rodriguez-Molina | Fr. | Keystone College | Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brigida

 

Rodriguez-Molina helped Keystone to a 2-0 week and exploded for six goals and 13 points, tying a program record for most goals in a single game.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Allyson Shindler | Sr. | Wilson College | GK | Manchester, Pa./Northeastern

 

Shindler helped the Phoenix to a 2-0 win by posting a shutout with three saves in 60 minutes of work in goal.

 

Honor Roll

Cedar Crest’s Kiley Marone registered eight points on four goals in the Falcons’ win… Sweet Briar’s Avery Jones scored two goals in the Vixens’ 4-1 win over Meredith… Wilson’s Abigail Rosenberry broke a scoreless tie in the 4th quarter to push the Phoenix to the win… Keystone’s Hannah Osbahr went 2-0 in goal during the week making four saves and notching a .67 goals-against average… Cedar Crest’s Kendall Heiney went 1-1 in goal for the week, tallying 11 saves… Lancaster Bible’s Amanda Hoover posted 25 saves over two games in goal.

 

 

Men’s Soccer

Offensive Player of the Week

Cody Ikner | So. | Saint Elizabeth University | M | Katy, Tx./Cinco Ranch

 

Ikner tallied a two-goal performance in the second half to carry the Eagles in a 2-0 win.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Samuel Alfaro | Sr. | Clarks Summit University | D |Cuenca, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Particular Interamericana

 

Alfaro kept a clean sheet, leading the CSU defense to only allow their opponents a total of two shots on goal while making important tackles in the Defenders’ win.

 

Honor Roll

Keystone’s CJ Lampert scored twice including a game-winning goal against Scranton… Cairn’s Moses Beers scored the first goal and assisted in the second in Cairn’s 2-2 draw… Clarks Summit’s Kinglsey Okoi scored the first goal and drew the penalty for the second in the Defenders’ win… Rosemont’s Colin Kelly tallied two goals including one against nationally ranked F&M… Cairn’s Kameron Clark made three saves in 90 minutes in goal… Keystone’s Erick Gomez made nine saves over the week, including four in a 2-2 draw… Rosemont’s Santi Possu tallied a three-point week while helping to secure the clean sheet for the Ravens on defense.

 

 

Women’s Soccer

Offensive Player of the Week

Bailey Miller | Sr. | Wilson College | Sterling, Va./Washington

 

Miller had a four-goal week which included a hat trick early in the week, following up with a goal in game two to help the Phoenix to a 2-0 week.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Taylor Barletta | Fr. | Rosemont College | D | Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington

 

Barletta anchored the Rosemont defense to two clean sheets during the week along with tallying a goal from the defender spot.

 

Honor Roll

Cairn’s Becca Marzinke scored her first career hat trick in the Highlanders’ 5-3 win… Bryn Athyn’s Ashley Rivera became the program’s all-time leader in goals after netting two over the week… Cedar Crest’s Riley Abril netted a pair of goals in the Falcons’ 3-2 win… Rosemont’s Madison Boltersdorf tallied two goals and one assist during the 2-0 week for the Ravens… Keystone’s Megan Weber tallied two goals and two assists, including the game-winner in a 1-1 week… Wilson’s Rebecca Marakovitz posted six saves in 90 minutes in goal… Cairn’s Grace Miller notched a two-game game and helped lead the defense to a clean sheet… Cedar Crest’s Lauren Makely made four saves in the Falcons’ 3-2 win… Keystone’s Annie Metzger totaled 16 saves in a 1-1 week for the Giants.

 

 

Women’s Volleyball

Offensive Player of the Week

Olivia Zepp | S. | Cairn University | S | Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key

 

Zepp records another CSAC Player of the Week leading Cairn with 51 assists and nine service aces, including a match-high seven during the midweek contest to help the Highlanders go 2-0.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Rebekka Sanchez-Castro | Jr. | Cedar Crest College | L | Columbia, Md./Atholton

 

Sanchez-Castro recorded 32 digs over two conference victories including 20 in a sweep for the Falcons.

 

Honor Roll

Cedar Crest’s Maddison Minyo tallied 12 kills, 14 digs, five aces, and one block in two conference sweeps… Notre Dame of Maryland’s Gabbi Taganas led the Gators in kills per set (2.8) with 14 kills in a 2-0 week… Rosemont’s Rachel Beall finished with 17 kills, six digs and five aces over two matches… Wilson’s Deah Menedis tallied 14 kills for the Phoenix… Saint Elizabeth’s Kristina Ashton totaled 22 assists, 100% service rating with three aces and two kills from the setter position… Keystone’s Elise Burk totaled 11 kills, ten kills, six digs and two aces in 1-1 week for the Giants… Rosemont’s Kara Green led the Ravens with 16 digs and seven aces… Cairn’s Kali Burres-Cheeley combined for 19 digs over two matches for the Highlanders… Saint Elizabeth’s Bosco Onye had seven digs and a serve receive rating of 2.071… Keystone’s Karielys Gonzalez Ramirez  finished with 15 digs for the week including eight in a midweek win.
