Aaron Nola, a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, has been moved to the 60-day injured list. This decision was made to accommodate Buddy Kennedy on the team’s 40-man roster. Kennedy’s contract was selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, while Weston Wilson was sent down to the IronPigs in a related move.
Nola is expected to return in August, and this transfer does not indicate any setbacks in his rehabilitation process. Nola commented on his progress before a game against Miami, stating, “[I’m] trying to not overdo anything and irritate something [by throwing]. But … working out feels good, running feels good.”
The pitcher initially went on the 15-day injured list on May 16 due to a sprained right ankle. Further examination revealed a stress fracture in his right rib, necessitating an extended recovery period. Nola stressed the importance of not rushing his recovery process: “I’m not sure [what the long-term timeline is]. I’m obviously gonna have to ramp things up… It’s probably gonna take a little bit to get back going again … and get back to 100 percent.”
This injury marks Nola’s first stint on the injured list since 2017 when he experienced a lower back strain.
