Rohit Soans, MD, Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Temple University Hospital, spoke with The Philadelphia Inquirer about the risks associated with counterfeit weight loss drugs. This discussion follows a warning issued by Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday and 35 other attorneys general. They have called for heightened enforcement against fake drug distribution.

“Fake weight loss drugs can pose significant health risks,” Dr. Soans emphasized in his conversation with the publication. He pointed out that these counterfeit products often lack proper regulatory oversight, leading to potential harm for consumers.

The collective warning from the attorneys general aims to address the growing concern over these fraudulent products and protect public health by urging authorities to take stronger action against their proliferation.
