Bryce Harper exited the Philadelphia Phillies’ game against the Colorado Rockies on May 9 after experiencing a migraine during the top of the first inning.

Harper was replaced by rookie Felix Reyes, who pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the first at Citizens Bank Park. Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said after Philadelphia’s 9-3 win over Colorado that Harper might be available to play in Sunday’s series finale.

According to Mattingly, “Harper might be available to play in Sunday’s series finale.” The team has previously reported that Harper has had migraines before. He was scratched from a game against the Mets in May 2024 due to a similar issue, and former manager Rob Thomson said at that time that Harper had dealt with migraines prior to that as well.

This marks the third instance this season where a Phillies player has suffered from a migraine. Andrew Painter missed his scheduled start on April 12 against Arizona because of one but later entered the game and pitched five innings. Justin Crawford was also scratched from a May 2 game in Miami for similar reasons. Both Painter and Crawford have histories of migraines like Harper.

The Philadelphia Phillies represent their city as members of Major League Baseball’s National League and engage fans through games and community outreach activities at Citizens Bank Park, their home stadium since 2004, according to the official website.
