ChristianaCare and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) have announced a strategic affiliation to expand pediatric care access in Delaware and surrounding areas. The collaboration, expected to commence in spring 2026, aims to integrate CHOP’s specialized services with ChristianaCare’s network, enhancing care delivery and reducing travel for families seeking advanced pediatric treatments.

“This collaboration brings together two amazing organizations that are already nationally recognized for clinical excellence—and we’re going to be even better together,” said Janice E. Nevin, MD, MPH, president and CEO of ChristianaCare. “Our affiliation with CHOP marks a bold step forward in our mission to provide the highest quality care to children and families across the communities we serve.”

“Bringing seamless, family-centered care to our patients is a priority at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia,” stated Madeline Bell, CEO at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “Our new affiliation is driven by a shared vision: redefining what is possible in health care.”

Megan Mickley, MD, chair of Pediatrics at ChristianaCare expressed enthusiasm about the partnership stating it will complement the existing high-quality care provided by ChristianaCare.

The affiliation will involve all ChristianaCare hospitals where pediatric emergency and inpatient services are offered. Initially focusing on pediatric and neonatal services, it will grant access to CHOP’s expertise in rare diseases and various medical fields including surgery and cardiology. As the partnership evolves, there may be further opportunities for expanding pediatric healthcare in the region.
