Katie Collins and Simone Sawyer received recognition from the Philadelphia Big 5 for their performances during the 2025-26 women’s basketball season, according to an announcement on Apr. 28. The awards were determined by votes from the city’s head coaches.
The Philadelphia Big 5 is a group that recognizes top players in city college basketball each year. These honors highlight outstanding contributions made by student-athletes throughout the season.
Collins was named to the first team after starting all 27 games for Penn this season. She earned her second consecutive All-Ivy Second Team selection following her rookie of the year award in 2024-25. Collins averaged 13 points, 7.6 rebounds, and contributed across several categories including assists, blocks, steals, and minutes per game. Her performance placed her among league leaders in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and playing time within the Ancient Eight conference. Collins reached double figures in scoring in nineteen games and recorded three double-doubles against Maryland Eastern Shore, Brown, and Cornell.
Sawyer was recognized as the top free-throw shooter among Big 5 athletes after making nearly nine out of every ten attempts at the line this season—a mark that ranked twenty-second nationally and represented significant improvement over her previous year’s performance. She started twenty-four times at guard across twenty-seven games for Penn while averaging a career-best eleven-and-a-half points per game.
The Quakers finished their regular season with a record of seventeen wins and ten losses.
