Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) and Prime Healthcare Pennsylvania Region have announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing education and career opportunities for healthcare students. The announcement was made during a signing ceremony held on CCP’s Main Campus.

The partnership will allow CCP students in various healthcare degree programs to gain field experience through rotations at Prime Healthcare Pennsylvania facilities, including Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Lower Bucks Hospital. These hospitals will work with CCP’s Career Connections department to recruit students.

Dr. Alycia Marshall, interim president of the College, stated, “This partnership represents a pivotal moment for the College as we join forces with a leading health system like Prime Healthcare.” She emphasized that this collaboration would provide students with hands-on clinical experiences necessary for today’s healthcare environment.

Eligible programs at CCP include Medical Laboratory Technology, Phlebotomy, Respiratory Care Technology, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Nursing, Medical Assistant, Nurse Aide Training, and Pharmacy Technicians.

Shawn Parekh, CEO of Roxborough Memorial Hospital remarked on the significance of the partnership: “By offering students experiential learning opportunities within our facilities, we are enhancing their educational experience while simultaneously addressing the urgent need for qualified healthcare workers in our communities.”

Prime Healthcare Pennsylvania Region is part of Prime Healthcare based in Ontario, California. It operates 51 hospitals and over 360 outpatient locations across 14 states.

Attendees at the signing ceremony also heard from Dr. Vishal Shah from CCP and Beth Leahey from Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
