Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing historical civil rights milestones, current political dynamics, and ongoing labor issues.
On August 28, 2025, Evans marked the anniversary of Emmett Till’s murder by stating, “On this day, 70 years ago, Emmett Till was lynched at just 14 years old. After his murder, Mamie Till-Mobley relentlessly pursued justice for her son. In their memory, over 3 years ago, we passed the Emmett Till Antilynching Act, designating lynching as a federal hate crime.”
The following day, August 29, he commented on recent political developments involving former President Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., writing: “Trump is letting Ran-for-President Kennedy undermine ‘one of the greatest achievements’ of his first term, as RFK repeatedly steals spotlight from Trump & damages the administration – it’s like watching Elon: The Sequel. @TheRickWilson @JoeScarborough”
Later that same day, Evans reiterated his support for labor rights and union activity with another post: “#FBF: From defending our federal workers to rallying with Philly unions, I’m proud to be a longtime supporter of labor! That’s why, as we continue to see attacks on working Americans, I’m continuing to champion the PRO Act, which would protect workers’ right to organize.”
Evans has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd District since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for over three decades. He was born in Philadelphia in 1954 and graduated from La Salle University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
