Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media addressing labor rights, economic issues, and community engagement.

On September 1, 2025, Evans marked Labor Day by highlighting the contributions of unions to workers’ rights. He wrote, “Happy #LaborDay! From securing safer working conditions to establishing the 8-hour workday to fighting for fair wages- ALL workers benefit from the hard-won accomplishments of unions. In Congress, I’m proud to support our workers by fighting to raise the minimum wage and protect https://t.co/Yod1xOpra5”.

The following day, September 2, Evans addressed rising consumer prices and criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. He stated, “From the grocery store to the car dealership, thanks to Trump’s reckless tariffs, prices are rising. Now, Trump is threatening to tariff prescription drugs up to 200%- meaning YOU’LL be paying more at the pharmacy and through higher insurance premiums! #HandsOffOurMedicine”.

Later that same day, Evans shared his participation in a local event focused on poverty alleviation in Philadelphia. He posted, “It was great to join Project HOME for their annual cookout and backpack giveaway! Thank you, Project HOME, for this recognition and for your continued work to alleviate poverty throughout Philly! https://t.co/eBJOw5Tp1r”.

Evans has served as a member of Congress since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 until 2016. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and currently residing there at age 68, Evans graduated from La Salle University with a BA in 1975.
