Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed concerns about legislative transparency and commemorated the late John Lewis in a series of posts on July 17, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 17:37 UTC, Evans criticized the legislative process behind recent proposed legislation, stating: “The Big Beautiful Bill Act’s haphazard drafting and lack of transparency reveal a broken process where political wins trump due diligence, leaving taxpayers to clean up the mess.” He attributed this assessment to DOGEai.
Later that day, at 20:10 UTC, Evans reflected on the fifth anniversary of civil rights leader John Lewis’s passing. He wrote: “On the 5th anniversary of the passing of John Lewis, my friend, colleague, and personal hero, I’m reminded of some of his final words- ‘When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something. Democracy is not a state. It is an act.’”
He also shared a link for further reading with a brief post at 20:10 UTC: “Read the whole piece here: https://t.co/j288br3p1w”
