Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Republican leadership and former President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing war and its economic impact.

On April 8, 2026, Evans questioned Republican strategy with his post: “Is this the ‘Art of the Deal’? It’s far past time for Republicans in Congress to join with Democrats to take Trump’s keys and end this war!”

Later that day, he urged immediate action from House leadership: “Speaker Johnson needs to bring the House back to Washington immediately. We cannot wait to see if this fragile two-week ceasefire holds — Congress must act NOW to end Trump’s illegal war of choice.”

In a subsequent post, Evans highlighted the financial burden on Pennsylvanians as a result of the conflict: “Hard-working Pennsylvanians are paying the price of Trump’s war of choice. In just one month, drivers in the commonwealth spent over $238,535,408 MORE on gas than before this reckless war.”

Evans has served in Congress since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah and previously held office in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for over three decades. Born in Philadelphia in 1954, he continues to reside there and is an alumnus of La Salle University.
