Congressman Dwight Evans, representing Pennsylvania’s 3rd district, has recently shared his critical views on the Republican Party’s proposed budget via social media. Evans, who succeeded Chaka Fattah in 2016 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016, expressed strong opposition to what he refers to as the “Reverse Robin Hood” budget.
On June 3, Evans commented on the GOP’s budget proposal that aims to cut health care coverage for at least 14 million Americans. He stated, “The GOP #ReverseRobinHood budget would strip at least 14 million Americans of their health care coverage.” Evans further criticized claims that these cuts would strengthen the system and highlighted dissent from notable figures such as Elon Musk and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The following day, June 4, Evans pointed out a lack of awareness among some House Republicans regarding their own legislative proposal. He tweeted, “After their late-night rush job, some House Republicans regret not reading their OWN bill.” He urged Senate Republicans to scrutinize the contents of the extensive Medicaid and SNAP-slashing GOP Tax Scam 2.0 before casting their votes.
Later that same day, Evans addressed potential consequences of implementing work requirements for Medicaid under the Republican plan. In his post he noted, “What would the Republicans’ Medicaid ‘work requirements’ actually do? Kick MILLIONS of eligible Americans off their health coverage with burdensome & confusing reporting requirements.”
As an experienced lawmaker born in Philadelphia in 1954 and a graduate of La Salle University in 1975 with a BA degree, Dwight Evans continues to actively participate in congressional discourse concerning major policy issues affecting his constituents and Americans nationwide.
