Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 18, 2025, addressing recent policy decisions by former President Donald Trump and their impacts on American consumers and LGBTQ+ support services.
In a tweet published at 16:35 UTC, Evans stated, “A reminder- it’s you, the American consumer, who pays the price for Trump’s reckless tariffs.” On the same day at 20:50 UTC, he drew attention to the closure of an LGBTQ+ service associated with the national suicide prevention lifeline. In another post made at the same time, Evans criticized the decision further: “Trump’s closure of 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ service is unconscionable and shameful. Dwight Evans has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd District in Congress since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for over three decades. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and currently residing there at age 68, Evans graduated from La Salle University with a BA in 1975.
