Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal spending priorities, energy assistance programs, and Holocaust remembrance.
On April 10, 2026, Evans criticized former President Donald Trump’s fiscal policies. He wrote: “Trump is STILL trying to take $10,000,000,000 of taxpayer money for himself. I vehemently oppose this and call on congressional Republicans to do the same!” (April 10, 2026).
Later that day, Evans addressed concerns about proposed cuts to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), stating: “Over 300,000 Pennsylvania families rely on LIHEAP to stay warm through the winter. Yet President Trump wants to eliminate this critical program so he can pour more money into his dangerous war of choice.” (April 10, 2026).
On April 13, Evans marked Yom HaShoah with a message commemorating Holocaust victims and denouncing antisemitism: “On Yom HaShoah, we mourn and remember the memories of the six million innocent Jewish people brutally murdered during the Holocaust. Today and every day, let us honor their memories by rejecting antisemitism and hate in all forms. #NeverAgain” (April 13, 2026).
Evans has served in Congress since replacing Chaka Fattah in 2016 after a long tenure in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and currently residing there at age 68, Evans graduated from La Salle University with a BA in 1975.
