Congressman Dwight Evans, representing Pennsylvania’s 3rd district, has taken to social media to express his views on recent budgetary decisions and their implications for Medicaid and tax policies. Evans, who succeeded Chaka Fattah in 2016 and has been serving since then, previously held a long tenure in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
On June 18, 2025, Congressman Evans posted a tweet addressing potential cuts to Medicaid. He stated: “You don’t have to do ‘relief’ if you just don’t cut Medicaid in the first place. #SaveMedicaid”. This statement underscores his stance against reducing funding for Medicaid.
Later that day, he provided additional information through another post: “More details: https://t.co/ZqpJSfkWRR”. This suggests further elaboration on the issues at hand was made available through an external link.
In another tweet on the same day, Evans criticized the fiscal strategies of former President Trump and Republican lawmakers. He tweeted: “Trump and Republicans’ budget provides even more tax cuts for their billionaire donors and hard-working Americans will be paying for it – up to $1,600 a year! Rather than access to affordable health care, your #TrumpTax will fund mansions, yachts & private jets.” Here, Evans highlights his concerns about tax policies favoring wealthy individuals over accessible healthcare solutions.
Evans was born in Philadelphia in 1954 and currently resides there. He graduated from La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975.
