Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on August 13, 2025, regarding recent legislative efforts and economic concerns.
In one post, Evans described a bill aimed at improving access to health coverage for seniors. He wrote: “This bill would strengthen pathways to health coverage, sending Medicare eligibility & enrollment information in Social Security statements to seniors nearing Medicare eligibility. Thanks to @RepRaulRuizMD, @RepGusBilirakis, and @RepSchneider for co-leading this critical” (August 13, 2025).
He also announced his role as a co-leader of the BENES 2.0 Act ahead of Social Security’s upcoming anniversary: “Ahead of Social Security’s 90th anniversary tomorrow, I’m co-leading the BENES 2.0 Act! This bipartisan bill would help thousands of Americans to avoid late-enrollment penalties that average 27%.” (August 13, 2025).
Addressing economic issues faced by families in Philadelphia, Evans criticized former President Donald Trump’s tax and tariff policies: “While Trump just cut taxes for his billionaire buddies, prices continue to rise for everyday Americans. This back-to-school season, thanks to his reckless tariff scheme, families in Philly are paying more on everything from notebooks and pencils to new clothes and shoes.” (August 13, 2025).
Evans has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd District since winning election in 2016 after serving over three decades in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He was born in Philadelphia in 1954 and continues to reside there. Evans is an alumnus of La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree earned in 1975.
