Samuel Eldrich, MD, Medical Director of the Temple Health-Chestnut Hill Hospital Emergency Department, recently spoke with the Chestnut Hill Local about health risks related to heat and humidity. Dr. Eldrich outlined which groups are most at risk during periods of high temperatures and discussed the symptoms associated with heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
He emphasized the importance of taking precautions during extreme weather conditions. “People should be aware of who’s most vulnerable, the symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion, and how to stay safe in extreme conditions,” said Dr. Eldrich.
Dr. Eldrich’s advice comes as part of ongoing efforts by local hospitals to inform the public about health risks associated with seasonal changes.
Temple University Hospital has also announced that starting September 3 at 8:00 AM, all Labor and Delivery services will move from its Main Campus at Broad and Ontario Streets to a new hospital location.
