Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on November 4, 2025, to comment on ongoing political disputes regarding SNAP benefits and encourage voter participation in Philadelphia.

In a post made at 5:50 p.m. UTC, Evans criticized Senate Republicans for blocking a resolution that would have pressured the Trump administration to fully fund November SNAP benefits. He stated, “Senate Democrats tried to pass a resolution pressuring the Trump administration to FULLY fund November SNAP benefits. Senate Republicans shot it down- allowing Trump to continue treating hungry Americans as political pawns during this #GOPShutdown. It’s shameful.”

Later that evening at 9:46 p.m. UTC, Evans addressed Philadelphia residents directly about Election Day, writing, “Hey #Philly! This Election Day, don’t leave your power on the table! Polls across the city are open until 8 p.m. Find your polling place and make sure your voice is heard!”

At 10:24 p.m. UTC, Evans posted again about SNAP benefits and actions by former President Trump’s administration: “Hours before this, Trump threatened to keep withholding SNAP benefits illegally. Trump can FULLY release SNAP funds right now – millions of hungry children, seniors, veterans, and disabled Americans can’t wait as his administration continues to play these political games.”

Evans has served in Congress since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah and previously spent over three decades in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and currently residing there, he graduated from La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975.
