Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, criticized recent actions by Congressional Republicans in a series of tweets posted on July 18, 2025.
Evans wrote, “Just two weeks after gutting health care coverage for millions, Congressional Republicans are, once again, abandoning hard-working Americans to roll over for Trump. (1/3)” He continued his criticism of the House GOP’s budget decisions: “Last night, while most of America was sleeping, the House GOP slashed funding for PBS, NPR, and local tv & radio stations, and life-saving global health programs and peacekeeping efforts, rubberstamping DOGE’s illegal cuts. (2/3)” In his final post in the thread, Evans stated: “It’s shameful. Congress should be fighting for the needs of everyday Americans, not protecting the interests of billionaires by implementing Project 2025. (3/3)”
Evans has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd District since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and a graduate of La Salle University with a BA earned in 1975, Evans has long been active in state and national politics.
His recent statements come amid ongoing debates about federal funding priorities and legislative proposals such as Project 2025.
