Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address issues ranging from federal benefit cuts to voting rights and constituent services.
On August 18, 2025, Evans criticized recent federal policy changes affecting low-income families in Philadelphia. He stated, “The effects of Trump’s #ReverseRobinHood law are already starting to ripple through Philly. Because of the harsh cuts to SNAP food aid, vital healthy-living programs for low-income students & families will be forced to end this fall. That WON’T ‘Make America Healthy Again!'”.
The following day, August 19, 2025, Evans announced a community outreach event: “Today, from 4 to 6 PM, Team Evans will be at the Nicetown-Tioga Library! Stop by and join us if you need help with federal services and concerns such as passports, immigration, the Postal Service, IRS, Social Security and the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
Later that same day, he commented on national voting practices and election security: “Millions of Americans, including servicemembers, seniors, people with disabilities, and Trump himself, vote by mail. This is an illegal attack on Americans’ fundamental right to vote. This isn’t about election security- it’s disenfranchising voters for your own gain.”
Evans has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd district since 2016 after succeeding Chaka Fattah. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for over three decades. Born in Philadelphia in 1954 and a graduate of La Salle University in 1975 with a BA degree, Evans continues to reside in his hometown while advocating for local and national issues.
