Congressman Dwight Evans, who has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2016, recently shared updates regarding his efforts and achievements related to housing revitalization and federal investments in Philadelphia. Evans, a lifelong Philadelphian and La Salle University graduate, succeeded Chaka Fattah in Congress after serving over three decades in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
On July 14, 2025, Evans posted about his participation with the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) to celebrate significant progress in Sharswood. In his words: “This morning, I was happy to join @PhilaHsgAuthPHA to commemorate the revitalization of Sharswood, including the building of 1,400 new homes! I was proud to help the PHA secure $30 MILLION in federal funding, leveraging over $700 MILLION in investment to revitalize this historic”.
Later that same day, Evans reaffirmed his commitment to securing resources for Philadelphia during his remaining time in office. On July 14 he wrote: “During the rest of my term in Congress, I will continue working to protect federal investments for Philly – and when possible, to bring home more federal investments.”

Evans is currently serving as Congressman for Pennsylvania’s 3rd district after replacing Chaka Fattah in 2016. He previously served from 1981-2016 as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Born and raised in Philadelphia and holding a BA from La Salle University (1975), Evans continues to reside locally at age 68.
