Congressman Dwight Evans, who represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed concerns about healthcare coverage and hospital funding in a series of tweets posted on July 21, 2025.
In his first tweet, Evans called for bipartisan cooperation to protect healthcare coverage for Pennsylvanians: “Free suggestion: Work with @WaysMeansCmte Democrats & start NOW, so we could have a well-drafted, bipartisan bill that can pass in the light of day – 150,000 Pennsylvanians are at risk of losing Pennie coverage! https://t.co/qQcAGSL5Zn https://t.co/OQnPiu2DOM” (July 21, 2025).
Later that day, Evans shared another post containing only a link: “https://t.co/C6t3cJG8B2” (July 21, 2025).
He also commented on the impact of federal budget changes on local hospitals: “After Hahnemann Hospital closed, we saw the devastating ripple effects through Philly. As Trump’s new #ReverseRobinHood budget law slashes Medicaid funding, hospitals in Philly- and across PA – will lose millions and be at risk of closure – costing our communities jobs & health https://t.co/CgQowIs1oJ” (July 21, 2025).
Evans has served as a member of Congress since replacing Chaka Fattah in 2016. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016. Born and raised in Philadelphia in 1954, Evans continues to reside there and is an alumnus of La Salle University.
