The Philadelphia Eagles have activated safety Marcus Epps from Injured Reserve ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team also elevated safety Andre’ Sam from the practice squad.

Epps had been on Injured Reserve since after Philadelphia’s Week 8 win over the New York Giants. This season, he has mainly contributed on special teams and played 15 defensive snaps.

With rookie Andrew Mukuba currently on Injured Reserve, Sydney Brown started alongside Reed Blankenship last week. Epps returned to practice this week, and Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said he did not rule out Epps starting against the Chargers.

Epps was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round out of Wyoming in 2019. He played eight games for Minnesota before being claimed off waivers by the Eagles. In 2022, Epps became a full-time starter for Philadelphia and helped them reach the Super Bowl.

Following his time with the Eagles, Epps signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and later joined the New England Patriots in 2025. He was released during roster cuts before returning to Philadelphia’s practice squad and then joining their active roster after Week 3.

Andre’ Sam made his season debut last week for Philadelphia, appearing on five special teams snaps but not playing on defense.
