The Philadelphia Eagles will play without two key starters in their Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, sidelined with shoulder injuries, and right tackle Lane Johnson, out due to a foot injury, are both listed as inactive.

The full list of Eagles inactives includes Jalen Carter (98), running back A.J. Dillon (29), quarterback Sam Howell (14, third QB), Lane Johnson (65), cornerback Mac McWilliams (22), and outside linebacker Joshua Uche (0).

Safety Marcus Epps returns to action after being activated from Injured Reserve earlier in the day. Epps missed the last four games but is now considered a candidate to start against the Chargers. Last week, Sydney Brown started alongside Reed Blankenship at safety. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said, “Epps will be a candidate to start against the Chargers.” The team also elevated safety Andre’ Sam from the practice squad for the second consecutive week.

With Carter unavailable, rookie Ty Robinson is active for only the second time this season after being a healthy scratch for four straight games. Robinson previously played a career-high 19 snaps in Week 6 when Carter was also inactive.

Fred Johnson will take over at right tackle for Lane Johnson, having started there for the past three games.

Joshua Uche is inactive for the second straight week after appearing in each of Philadelphia’s first 11 games this season.

On the Chargers side, quarterback Justin Herbert is active following surgery on his non-throwing hand after an injury suffered during Los Angeles’ Week 13 win over the Raiders. Rookie running back Omarion Hampton also returns after being activated from Injured Reserve; he has not played since fracturing his ankle in Week 5 but had posted a strong performance with 128 rushing yards and one touchdown against the Giants prior to his injury.
