Wide receiver Britain Covey and safety Andre’ Sam will play their first games of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles during the Black Friday matchup against the Chicago Bears.

The Eagles added Covey to their active roster after placing rookie safety Andrew Mukuba on Injured Reserve. Covey is expected to take on return duties with Xavier Gipson out due to a shoulder injury. Sam was promoted from the practice squad to provide depth at safety following Mukuba’s absence.

Right tackle Lane Johnson will miss his second consecutive game because of a foot injury, with Fred Johnson set to start in his place. Outside linebacker Joshua Uche is inactive for the first time this season. Patrick Johnson was elevated from the practice squad and will serve as the sixth outside linebacker for Philadelphia.

The full list of Eagles inactives includes running back A.J. Dillon, wide receiver Xavier Gipson, quarterback Sam Howell (third quarterback), tackle Lane Johnson, cornerback Mac McWilliams, defensive tackle Ty Robinson, and outside linebacker Joshua Uche.

For the Bears, starting cornerback Jaylon Johnson returns after missing several games due to a groin injury sustained in the season opener. Chicago will be without Tyrique Stevenson, who had been starting at cornerback.

The Bears’ inactives are linebackers T.J. Edwards and Ruben Hyppolite II, defensive lineman Dominique Robinson, linebacker Noah Sewell, defensive back Tyrique Stevenson, wide receiver Jahdae Walker, and quarterback Case Keenum.
