The Philadelphia Eagles have placed rookie safety Andrew Mukuba on Injured Reserve following an ankle injury sustained late in Sunday’s game against Dallas. This move will sideline Mukuba for at least the next four games, starting with the upcoming Black Friday matchup against Chicago.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni had indicated earlier in the week that Mukuba would be out for a period due to the injury. The team’s second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Mukuba has played in all 11 games this season, starting 10 and recording 46 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and half a sack. He has been on the field for 93 percent of defensive snaps.

“I think we talked about it last week. He has been playing a lot better, avoiding the big negative plays and playing to his ability,” said Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio.

With Mukuba unavailable, Sydney Brown will take over as starting safety. Brown stepped into the role during Sunday’s game when Reed Blankenship left with a thigh injury. “I’m ready,” Brown said on Tuesday. “I feel like I’ve been ready since (Training) Camp. I think I’ve been prepared since I got here. I’ve had a couple setbacks in the past. It’s just been something to work back from, but I think I’ve been ready to go since I came here.”

To fill Mukuba’s spot on the active roster, wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey was signed from the practice squad. Covey has played in 38 games for Philadelphia since joining as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2022. In 2023, he led the NFL with 417 punt return yards and was notable for having multiple returns of over 50 yards.

Covey’s addition comes as Xavier Gipson is managing a shoulder injury suffered during a return against Dallas; Gipson has not practiced this week.

In another roster move, offensive tackle Luke Felix-Fualalo was placed on Practice Squad Injured Reserve with an undisclosed injury. Felix-Fualalo joined Philadelphia’s practice squad as an international exemption after signing as a rookie free agent out of Hawaii post-2025 NFL Draft and previously played college football at Urah and Hawaii.

With these changes, Philadelphia now has two open spots on its practice squad; one must be filled by an international player.
