University of Pennsylvania senior guard Ethan Roberts has been named the Big 5 Player of the Week in men’s basketball, marking his second time receiving this honor during the current season. The announcement was made by the Philadelphia Big 5, with Roberts previously earning the award on November 24.
Roberts returned to play after missing nearly a month due to a concussion. He led Penn in scoring during both games last week as Ivy League play began. In Saturday’s win over Brown, he scored 28 points, just three points shy of his season high. Earlier in the week, he recorded 19 points in a loss at Princeton. Over these two games, Roberts contributed nine assists and six rebounds while shooting 20-for-22 from the free throw line and making three out of six attempts from beyond the arc.
Penn holds an overall record of 8-7 and is 1-1 in Ivy League competition. The team will be on the road for two league games this weekend: against Dartmouth on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup with Harvard on Monday at 2 p.m., coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
