Congressman Dwight Evans, who has represented Pennsylvania’s 3rd district since 2016 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, recently took to social media to address pressing economic and healthcare issues. Born in Philadelphia in 1954, Evans continues to advocate for his constituents from his home city.
On April 30, 2025, Evans highlighted the economic impact of former President Trump’s policies on American families. In a tweet, he stated, “Trump’s message to hard-working American families: Because of Trump’s own doing, fewer everyday goods will be available – and they’re going to cost you more. Clothes, shoes, appliances, construction materials – not just dolls. #TrumpSlump”.
Later that day, Evans emphasized the importance of Medicaid for Pennsylvanians, noting that many residents rely on this program for essential healthcare services. He tweeted, “From childbirth to nursing home care, 1 in 4 Pennsylvanians count on Medicaid for health care coverage. Behind these numbers are lives that could be upended by the Trump-backed GOP Medicaid cuts. Their stories are why I’m fighting to PROTECT Medicaid in Congress. “.
In a subsequent tweet, Evans shared a personal story of a constituent affected by potential Medicaid cuts. He recounted, “After Abby’s kid, Hallie, was born prematurely, they spent four months in Pennsylvania Hospital’s NICU, undergoing multiple surgeries. And when Hallie came home, the work really began. Without Medicaid, all of this would have been impossible to pay for- even with private”.
Dwight Evans, who earned a degree from La Salle University in 1975, replaced former U.S. Congress member Chaka Fattah in 2016 and continues his political career with a focus on healthcare and economic stability.
