The Flyers Alumni will host their annual Friday Night Fights event on March 6, 2026, at the 2100 Arena in South Philadelphia. The event is known for bringing together hockey fans and former NHL players who were recognized for their physical style of play.
Each year, the event features a lineup of former Philadelphia Flyers players and some of their notable rivals. Past speakers have included Dave “the Hammer” Schultz, Terry O’Reilly, Dave Brown, Stu Grimson, Daryl Stanley, Todd Fedoruk, and Brian McGrattan.
This year’s program includes Behn Wilson, a defenseman from the late 1970s to early 1980s known for his strength and toughness. Wilson has invited Willi Plett, a longtime rival with whom he had several on-ice altercations during his career.
Matthew Barnaby returns for his fourth appearance as a speaker at Friday Night Fights. He is joined this year by Ian Laperriere. Donald Brashear and Georges Laraque will also speak together about their matchups in the early 2000s. Joe Watson will share stories about how the Broad Street Bullies developed from early games against opponents like the Plager brothers and Noel Picard of the St. Louis Blues.
The event will be emceed by Liam Maguire, Bill Clement, and Steve Coates. Flyers Alumni often attend to reconnect with each other and interact with fans.
Attendees can expect an open-bar cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres followed by a dinner buffet and dessert table later in the evening. The catering is provided by Bacio Kitchen & Catering of Palmyra, New Jersey.
