The Philadelphia Flyers are set to face the Florida Panthers in Sunrise on Wednesday, marking the final game of their three-match season series. The Flyers currently hold an 11-7-3 record, while the Panthers stand at 12-9-1 and are the reigning two-time Stanley Cup champions. The teams have split their previous meetings this season.

Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST at Amerant Bank Arena, with television coverage on NBCSP.

The Flyers enter this matchup seeking improvement after a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. In that game, Tampa’s top line—Nikita Kucherov, Anthony Cirelli, and Brandon Hagel—scored all three goals. Philadelphia struggled offensively and was unable to challenge goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy significantly.

On the other hand, the Panthers come off a strong performance against the Nashville Predators, winning 8-3. A.J. Greer contributed two goals and an assist for Florida, while Sam Reinhart scored his 13th goal of the season and added two assists. Carter Verhaeghe also had a three-point night.

Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet commented on his team’s need for better game management following their last outing: “It’s back to the drawing board for the Flyers after Monday’s disappointing outing in Tampa Bay. Philly only yielded 18 shots for the game but they coughed up too many odd-man rushes, especially in the second period.”

Tocchet also highlighted adjustments made in forechecking that did not yield results against Tampa Bay: “Meanwhile, the more aggressive forechecking adjustment that worked well against New Jersey on Saturday produced only sporadic pressure against Tampa. The Flyers’ game management needs to be much better against the Panthers.”

Owen Tippett is another player under focus as he faces his former team. He has accumulated six goals and seven assists so far this season but saw his recent point streak end during Monday’s shutout loss. “Bottom line: The Flyers need Tippett’s combination of size and speed to come to the forefront against Florida. A big night for the player would portend well in the final meeting of the season series,” said Tocchet.

Goaltending duties have been split between Dan Vladar and Samuel Ersson this week, with Ersson playing against Tampa Bay and Vladar expected to start versus Florida. Veteran Sergei Bobrovsky is likely to return as goaltender for Florida after resting during their last match.

Both teams have similar defensive records at even strength; each has allowed 41 goals at five-on-five play this season. However, Florida has been more productive offensively at full strength compared to Philadelphia.

This matchup concludes the regular-season encounters between these two teams.
