Beginning September 3, Temple University Hospital’s Main Campus will no longer offer Labor and Delivery services. These services will be moved to a new hospital location.
Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital recently hosted its annual Survivor’s Day celebration, choosing a beach theme to symbolize relaxation for cancer survivors. The event aimed to provide an opportunity for patients and their families to enjoy food, fun, and prizes while recognizing their progress in cancer treatment.
Rosie Nagy, LCSW, OSW-C, Oncology Social Work Supervisor for Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital stated that “about 200 people participated this year, which was our highest level of engagement yet.” She added that it was exciting to see the community connect on Survivors’ Day.
The event featured basket raffles, games, a cooking demonstration, and tables staffed by clinicians from Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital. These tables provided information about resources such as survivorship post-treatment education, smoking cessation/lung health programs, clinical trials, and genetic counseling.
Additional resources were offered by representatives from the Temple University College of Public Health who provided free hearing screenings. Temple University student athletes participated through coordination with the Tuff Fund. Other participants included the Temple University Beasley School of Law’s Legal Aid Clinic and various departments such as Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department and Clinical Pharmacy.
The event celebrated the resilience of survivors with enthusiasm and joy. Organizers expressed gratitude towards attendees with hopes of seeing them again next year.
