Girl Scout Troop 7511 has donated 60 boxes of their renowned cookies to Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital. This gesture brought smiles to patients and staff as several Girl Scouts, with one parent, Rachelle Pretz, a physical therapist at the hospital, visited to deliver the treats.
“Our troop is based out of the Montgomery County/Plymouth Meeting area, and each year, we choose somewhere nearby to donate cookies,” said Pretz. “This year, we picked a local firehouse and the Cancer Center here at TUH.”
“The response has been great,” she continued. “I actually work with some of these patients as a physical therapist, as well as with several of these providers. Everyone has been so accommodating not only in accepting the cookies, but in going out of their way to show the girls what a positive impact they’ve been able to make through their donation.”
The annual cookie donations are significant for the troop members, as noted by Pretz. “They’ve worked really hard during cookie season: they do all these booths, and they try to sell to their families. So when it comes time to make these donations, it means a lot for them to be able to come here and see the difference they’ve made firsthand.”
