Congressman Dwight Evans, representing Pennsylvania’s 3rd district, recently shared his views on social media regarding healthcare, gun control, and a cultural celebration. Evans has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2016 after replacing Chaka Fattah and has a long history of public service, having previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016.
On June 6, 2025, Congressman Evans expressed concern over potential healthcare coverage losses due to tax cuts for the wealthy. He questioned the priorities behind such policies by stating “What’s crazier than a billionaire bromance imploding? 16 MILLION AMERICANS losing their health care coverage so the GOP can give more tax cuts to the rich.”
Later that day, Evans addressed gun violence and corporate accountability. He emphasized his ongoing advocacy for holding companies responsible for defective products and marketing practices that could lead to gun deaths. In his tweet at 20:08 UTC, he announced his role in co-leading federal legislation aimed at restoring rights to victims and survivors of gun violence: “So many gun deaths could be avoided if we held companies accountable for things like defective guns & irresponsible marketing.”
In another post made at 21:06 UTC on June 6th, Congressman Evans extended well wishes for Eid al-Adha celebrations. He tweeted “Eid Mubarak! I’m wishing all who are celebrating in Philly and beyond a joyful and blessed Eid al-Adha.” This message highlights his connection with diverse communities within Philadelphia.
Born in Philadelphia in 1954, Dwight Evans graduated from La Salle University with a BA in 1975. Now aged 68, he continues to reside in Philadelphia while serving as an active member of Congress.
