Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been chosen to represent the NFC at the Pro Bowl Games, scheduled for Tuesday, February 3 in San Francisco, according to an announcement from the NFL on Friday.
Hurts, who was named Super Bowl MVP, has now been selected for the Pro Bowl three times. This achievement ties him with Randall Cunningham, Norm Van Brocklin, and Bobby Thomason for the second-most appearances by a quarterback in Eagles history. Donovan McNabb remains the franchise leader with six selections.
This season, Hurts played a key role in helping the Eagles become the only team in the league to win their division for a second consecutive year. The last time an NFC East team achieved back-to-back titles was when McNabb’s Eagles did so from 2001 to 2004.
Hurts set career highs this season with 25 touchdown passes and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 4.2. He also rushed for eight touchdowns. Since 2000, only Hurts and Buffalo’s Josh Allen have recorded at least 30 total touchdowns in four straight seasons.
During an October victory over the Vikings, Hurts became just the third player in Eagles history to post a perfect passer rating after throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns. In another notable performance against the Raiders on December 14, he threw three touchdown passes and finished with a passer rating of 154.9. He is now the first quarterback in franchise history to have multiple games in one season with both a passer rating above 150 and a completion percentage of at least 80 percent.
In Week 3’s comeback win over the Rams, Hurts passed for 209 yards and accounted for four touchdowns—three through the air—in just one half.
Over the course of this season, Hurts completed nearly two-thirds of his passes (64.8 percent) for a total of 3,224 yards and scored 33 total touchdowns.
