The University of Pennsylvania has named Laurin Krings as an assistant coach for its softball program. Head coach Christie Novatin announced that Krings will work with the Quakers’ pitchers.
Krings most recently served as the player development coordinator at the University of Minnesota, where she managed several responsibilities including a community service program, in-season coaches’ meetings on player development, coordination with the community relations department for player appearances, and regular wellness check-ins for student-athletes.
She also spent two seasons pitching professionally for the New York Rise in the Fastpitch United Pro Series.
“I am thrilled to welcome Laurin to our Penn Softball family,” said Novatin, who is entering her third year leading the program. “As a proven competitor, she will bring meaningful connections and insight to our pitching staff. She leads with openness, enthusiasm, and a competitive spirit, which will be invaluable assets to our team. I look forward to the positive influence Laurin will have on our pitchers and their growth under her guidance.”
Krings expressed her enthusiasm about joining Penn: “I am incredibly excited to join the Penn program and to work alongside this group of women and staff. This season is a great opportunity for growth, both individually and as a team. I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and helping each player reach their full potential on and off the field.”
During her collegiate career at the University of Missouri, Krings ranked among the top 10 in several pitching categories including appearances (136), innings pitched (604.2), strikeouts (599), and wins (57). In her senior year, she was named to multiple teams such as the 2024 NFCA Southeast All-Region Third Team, SEC All-Defensive Team, and SEC All-Tournament Team after finishing with a 17-10 record that included nine complete games and two shutouts.
In previous seasons at Missouri, Krings achieved notable performances such as leading her team in ERA during her junior year while earning weekly honors following a no-hitter against North Texas. As a sophomore, she threw a perfect game against Bradley along with another no-hitter versus Bethune Cookman.
A native of Loveland, Colorado, Krings was twice recognized as Colorado’s Gatorade Player of the Year during high school where she recorded 949 strikeouts and hit 38 home runs. She graduated from Missouri in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Fitness Programming and Management.
