Nursing Assistant Marie-ann Wakefield has been recognized with the BEE (Being Extraordinary Everyday) Award for April 2025 at TUH-Jeanes Campus. The award highlights the significant contributions of nursing support staff.

Marie-ann, who serves on Unit 2C, was praised for her compassion and dedication. Her nomination included a testimonial from a patient, which stated: “After being admitted, a young mother with several children expressed difficulty dealing with her diagnosis and surgical plan. She wrote, ‘I was ready to leave the hospital without treatment, but there was an angel with me. Marie-ann helped me through it. She talked to me, prayed for me, and held my hand. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met. If I didn’t stay and get treatment my kids might not have a mom, but because of Marie-ann, I stayed and had the surgery. I will be better for my family and my children who need me. Thank you Marie-ann—and my kids thank you too! You are forever with us!’”

The BEE Award complements the DAISY Award by acknowledging that bees in nature are essential partners to daisies—each unable to thrive without the other. The recognition celebrates Marie-ann’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in patients’ lives by going above and beyond.
