Pennsylvania State Representative Martina White, who represents the 170th Legislative District in Northeast Philadelphia and leads the House Republican Caucus, has recently used her social media platform to address tax policy and education concerns in the state.

On April 15, 2026, White posted: “Tax Day is a reminder that every dollar the government spends comes from someone who worked hard to earn it. I want you to keep more – and the government to take less. That’s why I supported expanding property tax rebates for seniors, helped advance the Working Pennsylvanians https://t.co/DTD2jxjlSz”.

The following day, on April 16, she highlighted student proficiency statistics at Harrisburg High School: “The report card from Harrisburg is in and the results are alarming. Just 12% of Harrisburg High School students are proficient in reading. Only 2% are proficient in math. And science proficiency is just 3%. Our students deserve better. It’s time for Pennsylvania to opt-in to https://t.co/II7R4Pb0kW”.

On April 17, White continued her focus on education policy by referencing a recent press conference: “One week ago today, I spoke at a press conference urging Pennsylvania to opt-in to a federal tax credit program that could unlock $1 billion in scholarships for students across our Commonwealth. Families deserve more educational choices. https://t.co/qTHH28MiVU”.

White delivers public service by assisting residents with state programs in her district and advances initiatives related to education funding, public safety, and senior services (official website). She was elected during a special election in 2015 and stands as the first new Republican elected from Philadelphia in over two decades. In addition to her legislative work, she serves on the SEPTA board and has chaired the Liquid Natural Gas Task Force. White holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elizabethtown College and is a lifelong resident of Northeast Philadelphia.
