The final months of the 2025 Minor League Baseball season are underway, with top prospects showcasing their skills. Mick Abel, a right-handed pitcher for Lehigh Valley and ranked as the Philadelphia Phillies’ No. 5 prospect, delivered a standout performance on Saturday. After a stint in the Major Leagues, Abel returned to Triple-A earlier this month and has since been impressive. On Saturday, he pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out five batters. This marks his second consecutive scoreless start for Lehigh Valley since his return. Overall, Abel boasts a record of 7-2 with a 1.83 ERA over 12 appearances at Triple-A this season.
In other notable performances, Spencer Jones from the New York Yankees organization continued his strong showing at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by going 4-for-5 with a home run and a double. Jurrangelo Cijntje of the Seattle Mariners dazzled with seven strikeouts in his latest outing for Everett.
The weekend also saw impressive performances from Sebastian Walcott of Frisco, who hit his 10th home run of the season; C.J. Kayfus of Columbus with another multihit game; and Brandon Sproat of Syracuse extending his streak without an earned run to 24 innings.
These performances highlight the ongoing development and potential impact these players could have in Major League Baseball in the near future.
