The weekend in Minor League Baseball saw notable performances at the Double-A level, highlighted by two significant achievements. Tink Hence returned to action and led a nine-inning no-hitter, while Hendry Mendez completed the cycle with a late-game double. Other standout performances included Spencer Jones’ four-hit game and Andres Galan’s perfect seven innings.
Carter Jensen, ranked third among Kansas City prospects and 82nd overall by MLB, continued his strong hitting streak for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Jensen recorded multiple hits, including his sixth home run of the season, and maintained a batting average of .297 over 66 games.
Brice Matthews of Triple-A Sugar Land had three singles and a double, extending his hitting streak to 10 out of the last 11 games. Matthews is currently batting .413 with eight extra-base hits during this period.
Spencer Jones from Double-A Somerset achieved his first four-hit game of the season, which included his 14th home run. Jones has been consistent, hitting safely in seven of his last eight games.
Tink Hence made an impressive debut start for Double-A Springfield after recovering from an injury. He struck out eight batters over 4 1/3 innings, contributing significantly to Springfield’s no-hitter performance.
Robert Hassell III returned to Triple-A Rochester after a stint in the Majors and delivered a strong performance with two home runs and four hits. Hassell is experiencing one of his best professional seasons with a batting average of .311.
Hendry Mendez hit for the cycle for Double-A Reading, capping it off with a two-run double in his final at-bat. This performance helped improve his average to .295.
Andres Galan retired all 21 batters he faced in Single-A Charleston’s game, striking out five on just 74 pitches. Galan has maintained an ERA of 1.86 this season.
