Anjali Vaidya, MD, Co-Director of the Advanced Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Temple University Hospital, recently discussed a novel screening tool in an interview with Becker’s Hospital Review. This tool, developed by physicians at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, aims to enhance the detection of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

The research, published on April 5 in the American Heart Journal, introduces the virtual echocardiography screening tool (VEST). This tool integrates into electronic medical record systems to provide accurate PAH risk scores without requiring manual calculations. Dr. Vaidya is noted as the lead author of this study.

“The approach is the first of its kind in the field of pulmonary vascular medicine,” said Dr. Vaidya.
