The News Literacy Project, a nonpartisan organization, has developed an infographic titled “How to speak up without starting a showdown.” This resource offers six tips for engaging in conversations with family and friends who hold differing views. The infographic is part of the organization’s efforts to equip students with news literacy skills before they graduate from high school.
In response to frequent inquiries about early vaccination during measles outbreaks, detailed guidance has been added for families with infants and young children. The updated information can be found on the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): The Diseases & Vaccines webpage under “Other questions you might have.” This section also addresses vaccination needs for teens, adults, and those aged 65 and older. Additionally, the webpage provides details about the MMR vaccine and its protection against measles, mumps, and rubella, along with a risk-benefit assessment.
The Vaccine Education Center (VEC) recently announced the winners of the 2025 Maurice R. Hilleman Essay Contest. Part of the Vaccine Makers Project classroom program, this contest invited middle and high school students from the U.S. and Canada to write essays on the importance of scientific understanding among citizens. A celebratory event held in early May honored these students and their teachers. Arthur Caplan, Founding Head of the Division of Medical Ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Department of Population Health, delivered keynote remarks at the event.
