The University of Pennsylvania men’s swimming and diving team concluded its participation in the Ivy League Championships, finishing eighth among eight teams with a total of 677.5 points.
Sophomore Watson Nguyen led the Quakers’ efforts, securing his second gold medal at the meet by winning the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:52.03. He narrowly edged out teammate Peter Whittington, who took silver in the same event with a time of 1:52.10.
Nguyen is now the first Penn men’s swimmer since Mark Andrew in 2019 to win two events at a single Ivy League championship meet. Over the course of the weekend, Penn swimmers earned two first-place finishes, two second places, and placed in the top ten in two additional events.
Other notable performances included Aaron Jia finishing 15th in the 1650 freestyle (15:26.79), James Curreri placing seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:43.72), and Henry Guo coming ninth in the 200 butterfly (1:44.05). The Quakers’ relay team—comprising Curreri, Alex Fu, Eddie Jin, and Liam Campbell—finished seventh in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:55.64.
