Two members of the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team have received weekly honors from the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC), according to an announcement made Wednesday. Junior Jordan Barrow was named the conference’s top gymnast for the week, while freshman Ruth Whaley earned Co-Newcomer of the Week recognition.

Barrow’s award follows a strong showing at the Ivy Classic, where she took first place on both vault and beam. She scored 9.825 on vault and achieved a career-best 9.900 on beam. Barrow also placed sixth on bars with a score of 9.775.

Whaley, in her first season with Penn, was recognized for her performance on balance beam at the same event. She opened Penn’s rotation with a 9.825, contributing to a team event score of 49.125—the highest at the meet. Her beam score placed fourth overall and second among her teammates. Whaley also posted a 9.775 on bars, ranking second among Quakers competitors.

These recognitions mark the fifth and sixth GEC weekly awards for Penn gymnasts this season.

The Quakers will resume competition March 6 against Maryland, Towson, and Temple after a week-long break.
