The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team finished in sixth place out of 12 teams at the Wildcat Fazio Invite, according to an April 7 announcement. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Villanova and held at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway Township, New Jersey.
The event provided an opportunity for Penn to compete against regional rivals and prepare for upcoming tournaments. The Quakers posted a team score of 300 on Tuesday, which was the third-best round of the day. This brought their total to 905 (+53) for the tournament.
Ryan Chang was Penn’s top individual performer, competing as an individual and finishing tied for sixth with a score of nine-over-par 222 after shooting a final-round 74. From the main lineup, Hayden Adams and Kayden Wang both ended tied for twelfth overall with scores of twelve-over-par 225. Arjun Caprihan shot a final-round 74 to finish tied for twenty-sixth at fifteen-over-par 228, while Wesley Hu tied for thirty-second at sixteen-over-par 229. Max Fonseca contributed with a final-round score of seventy-seven.
Host Villanova won the tournament with a total score of eight-hundred eighty-two (+30), followed by Georgetown in second place at eight-hundred eighty-four (+32). Georgetown’s Carson Erick earned medalist honors by shooting a final-round sixty-nine to finish three-over-par (216), one stroke ahead of Villanova’s Ryan Palmer and Navy’s Chip Deegan.
Penn is scheduled to compete next in the Princeton Invitational this Saturday and Sunday before participating in the Ivy League Championship later this month.
