The University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team concluded its regular season with a 1-0 loss to third-ranked Princeton on Saturday night at Rhodes Field. Princeton scored the only goal in the seventh minute, completing a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play, while Penn finished with a 3-2-2 conference mark.

With this result, Penn secured the third seed for the upcoming 2025 Ivy League Tournament.

Before the match, Penn recognized its senior players: Oliver Pratt, Gavin Seele, Patrick Cayelli, Erickson Sakalosky, Wagoner, David Howard, and Will Kelly.

Both teams were active offensively; Penn registered 14 shots and Princeton had 13. Goalkeeper Phillip Falcon III matched his career-high by saving six out of seven shots faced.

Princeton became the first men’s soccer team in Ivy League history to complete a league season without conceding a goal. The Tigers finished regular-season play outscoring their conference opponents by a combined score of 12-0.

During the match, Princeton controlled possession early and scored through Bardia Hormozi in the seventh minute. Penn tried to respond with several attempts from Romeo Dahlen and Marco Bottene but could not find an equalizer as goalkeeper Andrew Samuels kept them off the scoreboard.

Falcon made multiple saves throughout both halves to keep Penn within reach. In the second half, efforts from seniors like Patrick Cayelli and defensive plays from Oliver Pratt resulted in opportunities that did not lead to goals.

In the final minutes, Princeton limited Penn’s offense to just one blocked shot and maintained their lead until full time.

Next up for Penn (8-4-4 overall) is a match against second-seeded Cornell on Thursday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m., as part of the Ivy League Tournament hosted at Princeton.
