The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team defeated Brown University 4-0 at the Hamlin Tennis Center on April 18, securing their 17th win of the season.

This victory is significant as it keeps Penn’s NCAA tournament hopes alive with only one match remaining in the regular season. The Quakers now hold a record of 17-9 overall and are even at 3-3 in Ivy League play.

Penn started strong by winning the doubles point, with #32 Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler earning a win at the top spot, and Nischal Spurling alongside Shaurya Bharadwaj claiming victory at third doubles. In singles action, freshman Adam Bain delivered a commanding performance against Alexander Bravo, winning his match 6-0, 6-1. Graziani continued his successful day by defeating Ivan Sodan at first singles for Penn’s third point. Luka Butera then clinched the overall win for Penn with a straight-set victory over Lukas Phimvongsa.

Other matches were left unfinished as Penn secured enough points to end the contest early. The full results list wins from Graziani/Sandler and Spurling/Bharadwaj in doubles, along with singles victories from Graziani, Butera, and Bain.

Looking ahead, Penn will host #37 Yale on Sunday afternoon in their final regular season match. The contest will also serve as senior day for Manfredi Graziani and Matthew Rutter.
