Penn sends swimmers to ECAC Championships at Bucknell this weekend

Members of the University of Pennsylvania’s Swimming and Diving teams will compete in the ECAC Championships this weekend. The event, hosted by Bucknell University, will take place at Kinney Natatorium, starting Friday at 10:00 AM and concluding Sunday at 4:00 PM.

The men’s team participants are Truman Armstrong, Neo Matsuyama, Ryan McGuirk, Aiden Rhee, Vincent Vinciguerra, Colin Zhang, Andy Zhou, Kevin Jiang, Jack Handelman, and Victor Dang. The women’s team includes Hannah Pecze, Olivia Safarikova, Sienna Wiggins, Charlotte Holliday, Caroline Cancelmo, Maggie Straley, Lily Zhang, and Mads Morawski.

Last year at the championships saw notable performances from Penn athletes. Katya Eruslanova won titles in both the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.52 and the 100 free with a time of 50.67. Maggie Straley finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.14 and is returning to compete this year. On the men’s side last year, the 200 medley relay team earned a bronze medal with a swim of 1:29.67.

This year’s meet will feature swimmers from 24 universities. Schools sending multiple competitors include Iona College, Navy (United States Naval Academy), Fairfield University, Loyola University Maryland, and Bucknell University.
