The University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse team will continue its final road trip of the regular season with a game against No. 5 Yale on Saturday, April 11. The match is scheduled for noon at Reese Stadium in New Haven, Connecticut.
Both Penn and Yale enter the contest undefeated in Ivy League play, each holding a conference record of 4-0. Penn currently stands at 6-5 overall, while Yale holds a stronger overall record at 10-2.
The all-time series between Penn and Yale is close, with Penn leading by just four games. However, Yale has won the last four meetings between the two teams, including last season’s regular season matchup and an Ivy League Tournament semifinal game in which they edged out Penn by one goal.
Earlier this week, Penn secured its fourth consecutive conference win by defeating No. 21 Princeton in double overtime on ESPNU. Lela Greene scored the decisive goal to give the Quakers their second victory over a ranked opponent this season. The win also marked Head Coach Karin Brower’s 300th career victory.
Patricia Columbia-Walsh led the offense against Princeton with five points and a career-high four goals. Sophomore Greene followed closely behind with her third hat trick of the year. Defender Natasha Yajadda caused four turnovers to lead a defensive effort that forced thirteen total turnovers from Princeton.
Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk recorded ten saves during that game—her sixth double-digit save performance this year—and has totaled over one hundred saves so far this season. Attacker Catherine Berkery leads Penn’s offense for the year with thirty-one goals and thirty-eight points through eleven games.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s matchup, Kate Gould leads Yale in assists and points while Kelly Holmes tops their scoring chart with twenty-nine goals so far this season.
