The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team announced on Apr. 20 the addition of twelve new student-athletes who will join the program as part of its recruiting class of 2030. Dr. Krissy Turner, Douglas N. Brush Head Coach, said these recruits represent a combination of academic and athletic achievement.
The announcement is significant for Penn’s soccer program as it aims to build a strong future with players recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the field.
“We are thrilled to welcome this exceptional group of student-athletes to our community. They embody the rare combination of academic curiosity and competitive excellence that defines both our program and our institution. Each has demonstrated a commitment to pushing boundaries—in the classroom, in competition, and within their communities—and we are confident they will make an immediate and lasting impact on our campus. We look forward to supporting their growth as scholars, teammates, and leaders in the years ahead,” Turner said in a statement.
Turner also thanked current team members for their role in helping secure this incoming class: “I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to our current team for the dedication and effort they showed in helping to secure this talented group.”
The incoming class includes Emily Burnham (Wellesley, Mass.), Camarin Choi (Cypress, Calif.), Ria Desai (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Lane Flanagan (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), Harper Goergen (New York, N.Y.), Josephine Hensley (St. Louis, Mo.), Molly Karp (Setauket, N.Y.), Marley Murdock (Stillwater, Minn.), Isabelle Rudnick (Lansdale, Pa.), Grace Saxton (Wyckoff, N.J.), Marijke Terhorst (Amsterdam), and Alisa Ziletkina (Vienna). These athletes bring diverse experiences from club teams across the United States as well as international play.
Each recruit shared reasons for choosing Penn that highlighted opportunities for academic rigor alongside high-level athletics. Many cited Penn’s supportive environment and balance between sports and studies as important factors in their decision-making process.
As these new athletes prepare to join Penn women’s soccer next season, university officials expect them to contribute immediately both on campus and on the field.
