Penn women’s tennis falls to Yale in season finale, 4-2

The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team lost to Yale on Apr. 19 in New Haven, ending their season with a 4-2 defeat against the Bulldogs.

This match marked the final contest of the regular season for Penn, who finished with an overall record of 11 wins and 12 losses, and a conference record of two wins and five losses in Ivy League play.

Penn started strong by securing the doubles point. Esha Velaga and Lara Stojanovski won at first doubles, while Joleen Saw and Maya Urata claimed victory at second doubles. In singles play, Velaga earned another win for Penn at the top spot by defeating Orly Ogilvy in straight sets.

Despite these efforts, Yale went on to win five out of six singles matches. This performance allowed the Bulldogs to clinch the Ivy League title.

With this result, Penn’s season has come to an end. The team’s performance included several close matches throughout the year.
